Ducks Unlimited Durham
About DUC – A Wetland and Wildlife Conservation Organization 
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) has been committed to wetland conservation for more than 70 years. Despite this, wetland loss continues across Canada. Up to 70 per cent of wetlands have disappeared in settled areas of the country.
DUC—a national, private, non-profit organization—is committed to conserving Canada’s wetlands. It’s a responsibility DUC does not take lightly.
DUC’s conservation efforts take many forms. On-the-ground work is guided by the wetland and waterfowl research of DUC’s scientists. DUC works to change policy in favour of wetland and habitat conservation. DUC also delivers wetland and environmental education programs to teach Canadians about wetlands and the need to conserve them.
As a non-profit organization, DUC relies on the support of Canadians from across the country. DUC’s dedicated volunteers, members and staff work very hard to help DUC in achieving its conservation mission and vision.

Lakeridge Health Whitby Foundation
The Whitby General Hospital Foundation was incorporated on February 16, 1979. The purpose of the Foundation was to receive and maintain funds which were to be applied from time to time for the furtherance of the purposes in the field of health and/or related social and educational purposes. Primary consideration of the funds was to promote and benefit the Whitby General Hospital.
In October 1999, following the official amalgamation of the Lakeridge Health sites, the Foundation applied to the Ministry of Consumer and Corporate affairs to officially change its name to Lakeridge HealthWhitbyFoundation.
In an effort support the Regional programs that have been sited at Lakeridge Health Whitby, the Foundation has begun an extensive fundraising initiative to raise funds to support these programs.
Mission Statement
Lakeridge Health Whitby Foundation is a registered charitable organization created to raise funds to meet the financial needs of the Lakeridge Health Corporation. We invest our community’s contributions in capital projects, equipment, research, services and programs for the benefit of patients at Lakeridge Health Whitby and Lakeridge Health Corporation sites throughout Durham Region.

YWCA Durham
- Ontario Early Years Centre – for parents and caregivers and their children
- Family Programs Centre – a gymnasium for community events and program deliver
- 2nd Stage Housing – a 33-bed unit for single women at-risk
- Supportive Housing Apartments – a 40 unit building for women led households
- Y’s WISH Shelter – for abused women and their children
- APPLE community program – for longer-term counselling for women victims of violence

Hearts of Durham
Hearts of Durham is a unique volunteer group made up of individuals who want to support and reinvest in their community. The goal of Hearts of Durham is to support one community initiative each year based on the priorities within the region. It is the vision of Hearts of Durham that by working with and supporting local resources, all of our families will benefit by living, working and playing in a stronger community. Our group believes by supporting these initiatives in our community… we can make a difference.
